Featured Crocheted Jewelries

Chain, single, half double, double, treble, double treble, triple treble and slip stitch. Do you have any idea what these words relate to? Crochet! Yup, I found out that these are the Top 8 Basic Stitches used in crocheting, according to Sandi Marshall on an article she wrote on About.com. But I’m going to tell you my little secret. I’m a frustrated crochet learner and the only stitch I can do is chain. This kind of needlecraft is the one thing - well, aside from tatting, I didn't inherit from my mother.

My mother and my aunt, they’re both excellent in crochet and I’ve been wondering why on earth I didn’t learn how to crochet. I remember my aunt would always tell me every time she teaches me how to crochet to keep the thread not too tight, relax my hands and create stitches using the same force. I always keep that in mind but until now I have never finished crocheted piece. Oh well, maybe it’s not my forte and I guess I don’t have that much patience when it comes to crochet, but even though, I have never lost that interest in the art of crochet and my admiration to beautiful crocheted designs is as vibrant as ever. I also admire ladies who know this kind needlecraft like these two girls who have the passion in crocheting. So, meet Shala Kerrigan of Don’t Eat the Paste and WolfDreamer of Off the Hook with their crocheted jewelry creations.

This is the creation of Shala Kerrigan, a talented mother of 2 and the editor of the beadwork site, BellaOnline. She also created a similar piece for her daughter, which she called Ribbed Soft Bangle.
