Thursday Five

Grab My Button

Happy Thursday!
In honor of Mrs. Gambizzle's time in Boston, I'm using Boston slang words!
It would be fun to see words that you use in your state..
or you can use these Bostonian words!
Write your post, link up,
and head over to Mrs. G's page to read about Texan slang!
Have fun!

Wicked (definition: very)
Mint (definition: excellent!)
Pissa (definition: cool, good)
Fresh (definition: describes any undesired behavior)
Wicked Pissa (definition: something is so cool there's no words to describe it)

1. I had a wicked good time drinking beehs at the bah (beers at the bar) with my friend Lindsey...she is hilarious and I'm always laughing when we are together!

2. I think it would be mint if the government could actually figure out what the heck to do with the budget. Honestly, I'm not freaking out over it (yet) but I'm thanking God we have money in savings.

3. I've had a pissa time with Betty...I'm pretty sure we've seen all the tourist sites, drank more beer than we ever thought possible, and even made it to New Hampshire and Maine...all in two weeks!

4. We have two very fresh dogs in this house! They are lucky they are so cute or they would be in a whole lot of trouble!

5. Betty is not a baseball fan...but I think she had a wicked pissa time watching the Rangers sweep the Red Sox!

If You Like Beer...Come to Boston!

I've been having so much fun with Betty here. We've been doing super-cheesy touristy things...and it's great! Today was day two in Boston.

First up....Sam Adam's Brewery! Free tour, free glass, free beer...and it was awesome! I tasted barley, smelled hops, and drank lots of beer. We learned all about their most expensive beer, Utopia. Seriously, Google it...it's expensive!

At the end of the tour we were told we could get more free stuff at Doyle's Pub...the first place to ever have Sam Adam's on tap...and it was in Mystic River! So, of course we had to head over to that...where we had more beer. And because we went on the tour....we go to keep the glass for free!

We got back on the T (for all you non-Bostonians...that's the subway!) and made our way to Fenway Park. We were too late for a tour of the park, so we grabbed a drink at Game On and walked around the the streets.

Last on our self-made-tour was Cheers. I'll save you a trip, go to the one in Fanueil Hall and buy a souvenir there! It's super crowded and touristy...but the chowder was yummy!

I've been having a great time with Betty, but man-oh-man...I can't wait to get back on my normal eating/drinking/working out schedule! We still have one more day of fun...who knows what we will do...bit I can't wait!

Boston Tourist

I've always loved Boston. And by Boston I mean Fenway Park, bars in Fanueil Hall, and seeing live performances in the Theater District. But today I actually did the most touristy thing in Boston - The Freedom Trail! Two and a half miles of history!

Our first stop was the Charlestown Navy Yard. We explored the USS Constitution, Museum and USS Cassin Young.

Navy or Marines?
After Betty got her Navy fix...I spotted a sign that said "Marine Barracks." Of course I needed a picture! After I snapped a quick picture a man asked me if I had an interested in the barracks...I told him my husband is a Marine..and he offered to give us a mini-tour. I found out that it is actually the oldest Marine barracks in the country!

After a quick lunch we jumped back on the Freedom Trail. Our next stop - The North End! We saw Copp's Hill Burying Ground, Old North Church, Paul Revere statue, and shared a huge canoli at Mike's Pastry! The most touching thing we saw was the Memorial Garden...there was a blank dog tag for every person lost in the Afghanistan and Iraq wars.

Next was the part of Boston I'm really familiar with - Fanueil Hall. All my favorite bars are here! We went to Union Oyster House, saw the Holocaust Memorial and took super touristy pictures with Ben Franklin (and yes, I paid him to pose with me!)

Our next stops were Old City Hall, King's Chapel Burying Ground, Sam Adams and John Hancock's graves, State House and Boston Common!

The tour ended 2.5 miles away from where we started....so we had to walk all the way back to meet the train! Needless to say my feet are killing me! The weather has been so crappy, I can't stop sneezing and sniffling...but I had so much fun in the city today...so it was totally worth it!

Margs, Bars, and Rants!

Time for a real post!

Since I've been in Boston I've been keeping busy! Thursday me and my sister headed into the airport to pick up Betty. And we've been non-stop since!

Thursday night we went to Margaritas. A huge group was supposed to go...but all by one bailed on me (another post for another day!) and we ran into my cousin and his wife there. It was a small but very fun group! I can't remember if I had three or four margaritas....which means I probably had four!

Me and Betty are apparently awful packers. So, we spent all day Friday at the mall with my sister. We got some super cute outfits for our Boston nights!

Friday night was Betty's first Boston experience! We started at Beerworks, froze on the walk to Hong Kong (no jackets for us....) and then danced the night away at Hennessys. It was my sisters first night at the Boston bars too...and I think they both really liked the band! We had so much fun! And, of course, took a ton of pictures!

We spent Saturday resting up our livers. Then we headed into Boston with my family. We had dinner at Jacob Wirths, I had super yummy German food (even though everyone said it looks gross I swear it was delicious!) Then we headed to a comedy show...Wayne Brady! It was so funny. I had to pee twice just so I wouldn't pee my pants! I thought he was hilarious! We only managed to get one picture because we were forced to put all cameras and phones away. I wish I had a picture of my outfit...it was so-damn-cute!

After the show we headed to a Chinese restaurant near home. This is where the drama unfolds. I am 25, with a military ID, with my entire-freaking-family....and they would not accept my ID. I ordered a pina colada, not exactly a super potent drink...was asked for my ID, handed it to her...and she walked away. She came back and said she could only accept a MA license. So, I was angry and started ripping out random cards from my wallet....none that she would accept. Little-Miss-Manager came over and was like NO. So, we go up front and I pulled the "our husbands protect our country" line...and was still refused. I go to the bartender, he looks at me like I have ten heads and says "of course we accept it." I was pisssssed. Wasn't even that I wanted my drink but seriously...accept my effing ID or we are going to cause a scene. [end rant]

We still have so much planned while Betty is here! We have one day of completely free stuff in the city. Tomorrow might be a resting day after our super busy weekend! Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!

No Coal This Year!

Christmas celebrations started Christmas Eve for us. We headed down to my aunts for some family, Chinese food and lots of laughs. My aunt ordered enough Chinese food to feed the entire USMC. No lie, there were four boxes of fried rice and at least three boxes of crab rangoon. Totally insane! Apparently there were lots of desserts too...but once the cupcakes came out, the laughs started...and we missed the rest of the desserts. The food coloring was so green that everyone's teeth, lips and tongues were bright green for the rest of the night.

Everyone kept asking where Roxy and Miley were because apparently all the puppy cousins were coming over too. If our two beasts went over it would have been a mad house! There were two other puggles (Bella and Mooch) and a miniture Yorkie (Colbey.) Miley easily outweighs all of them...but she doesn't realize it! But it would have been cute to have a puppy cousin picture...but instead...I just have the humans to show off!

Christmas was so great! Santa was so good to the entire family. I'll show off some gifts later this week...I got lots of good stuff! For now..here are some pictures of Christmas morning!

After presents we spent all morning slaving over the stove, and I just decided that I'm going to do an entire post on food, the pictures are so good they deserve a post to themselves! We had dinner at my parents house and then made the rounds for dessert. We started at my uncles house and ended at my cousin Brian's house. This was definitely a Christmas filled with puppies..we saw the cutest boxer! Oh, and there was even a super cute baby too! This was Lauren's first Christmas and she loved every second of it!

It was a great Christmas! It's snowing like mad up and down the East coast right now...which is getting in our way of getting back to Jacksonville. And I think I'm getting sick (like....hard to breathe and feeling like I'm going to throw up...) Two things I hate: snow and sick. I'm going to spend my (maybe?) last day in Massachusetts wrapped up in a blanket and letting Mom take care of me.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas!
