How to Make Chinese Knot Jewelry: Plafond Knot

The next Chinese ornamental knot jewelry that I will introduce to you is the Plafond Knot and this is how it looks like.

This knot was believed to be designed after the decorative centers of ceilings in Chinese palaces and temples. The spiral center and rectangular border revives those designs.

This pendant made of handmade glass beads has an additional Plafond knot. The knot gives any necklace an added charm and beauty.

How to Make Chinese Knot Jewelry: Flat Knot

The next to be introduced as a Chinese Ornamental Knot Jewelry is the Flat Knot. To the western culture, this knot is know as square knot or reef knot. For the Greeks, it's called Hercules knot. This is how it looks like.

This knot, I guess is familiar to everyone because it's usually used in friendship bracelets.

Just like this Crazy Bead Hemp bracelet. It's fun to make Flat Knots because they're very easy but one should remember that no matter how easy it is, the color combination should be carefully chosen so to give any jewelry a very cool look. The bracelet below has bold colors but because it was carefully chosen the bracelet looked very good.

How to Make Chinese Knot Jewelry: Round Brocade Knot

Another kind of the Chinese ornamental knot jewelries is this beautiful Round Brocade Knot or the Flower Knot. The round pattern of this knot represents good fortune because for the Chinese circles means completeness. This knot looks very challenging, its like made of confusing coils but with perseverance and will to learn, this knot could be just easy to tie.

How to Make Chinese Knot Jewelry: Prosperity Knot

The necklace above is an example of a jewelry that has a Prosperity Knot, another kind of the Chinese ornamental knot jewelry. From its name, it signifies prosperity to the wearer. Also, it was so called Prosperity Knot because of the several interwoven Double Coin Knots.

Prosperity Knots are usually made as a center piece to a necklace combined with other knots. From the necklace above, it is combined with snake knots. One thing to remember is the colors of the cords should match each other so as to avoid fashion understatement.

How to Make Chinese Knot Jewelry: Snake Knot

Now we have a few list of Chinese knots that are very interesting to learn and now I'll add again another one, the Snake Knot. Chinese ornamental knot jewelry comes in many forms that you can use to add more styles to your handmade jewelries.

Snake knots do have a very mysterious look but it appeals greatly to those who love new styles to add to their fashion. Among the many Chinese animal symbols, snakes are believed to bring good luck and is known to be a good treasure guardian.

How to Make Chinese Knot Jewelry: Good Luck Knot

Chinese ornamental knot jewelry are very interesting and fun to make. It can add more elegance to your style and a lucky charm and that is what I'm going to introduce to you, the Good Luck Knot.

This beautiful necklace shows a combination of a Good Luck Knot and other knots. The black beads and red satin cord gives this necklace a perfect touch. You should always keep in mind to use the correct combination of beads and cords because no matter how lovely these Chinese knots are, if you do not choose wisely, your jewelry will never look good.

How to Make Chinese Knot Jewelry: Double Connection Knot

Hello, everyone! I'm here again to discuss another Chinese ornamental knot jewelry, the Double Connection Knot.

The knot that holds the wooden beads of the necklace above in place together is called the Double Connection Knot. The primary role of this knot is to make a stable loop with the two cords dangling below. But as we can see it does not only secure the beads in place but also provides an elegant look. This knot just gives an elaborate design to any piece of jewelry when combined with another kind of knots, for example in this necklace, it is combined with the Prosperity Knot which I'll discuss in the next succeeding articles about Chinese knots.

But we have here a bracelet that is made out of Double Connection knots. So it's really important for you to consider the color of the cords and the choice of beads to make that piece of Chinese knot jewelry elegant and lovely to wear.

How to Make Chinese Knot Jewelry: Cloverleaf Knot

Chinese ornamental knot jewelry is really a fun thing to do and have. So I'll share again another kind of knot, the Cloverleaf Knot.

The necklace above is a Brocade Ball Knot Necklace which consists of 5 Cloverleaf Knots. The Cloverleaf knot is considered by the Chinese people as the most important decorative knot. Just for example, the double happiness knot below which is consists of 2 sets of 15 Cloverleaf Knots. This is very popular among weddings that symbolize a shared happiness between a couple.

There are three kinds of Cloverleaf Knots: 2 Leaf Knot, 3 Leaf Knot and 4 Leaf Knot.
