Flower Antlers

These antlers with flowers are all photographed by Kari Herer. Funny thing is, despite being a strict pescetarian, I've been long collecting antlers and skulls ever since I was little (you can see a tiny glimpse of it in my SF apt) and I even have a huge love for taxidermy (those in SF, you must visit Paxton Gate!)
I'm happy I found these beautiful photographs as I can try something like this on some of my antlers (I already tried it on my steer head.)

Btw, did you know while horns are kept for life, antlers fall off each year and regrow bigger? So don't fret when you see a pair of antlers!

Okay, I went a little overboard on this post but I couldn't find one picture of Taylor that I didn't like. Her husband is so lucky to wake up next to her and see her get ready. It must be so fun and interesting to watch.... btw, I meant that in a non creepy way.

Paper Jewels By Hila Rawet Karni

When I think of paper, I think about writing and origami. Origami is the art of paper folding. It is a form of sculptural representation of art using paper. I knew that it could be turned into jewelry but this specific person makes jewelry fantastically.

Her name is Hila Rawet Karni and she makes awesome jewelry out of folded paper. Her expertise is on industrial jewelry. She uses different materials such as paper, plastic and metal that are readily available in the arts and crafts market. She studied Industrial Design in Israel and Milan and is now based in London where she focuses on her line of jewelry. Karni’s designs include different types of jewelries such as necklaces and earrings sing different techniques of paper folding.

According to Hila, the ‘Kipul’ (folded) collection was inspired by years of origami making with her dad and her grandfathers’ books. The pieces were originally created with various types of folded sheet materials, mostly paper, in the thought of mass producing them in the same techniques as mass produced paper lanterns and ornaments. She still hand make these pieces upon request. In this summer collection the technique was transformed into pleating of various types of textiles and leathers. In spite of the use of a simple familiar raw material, the use of the origami folding manipulations results in unique and surprising pieces. These breath-taking crafted pieces incorporate industrial techniques with a high degree of hand making.’
