what is calling to you?

'all life is an experiment.'
~ ralph waldo emerson

fibers - different kinds used in unexpected ways...

lying in bed at night thinking about crocheting - even though i have been more of a knitter... my grandmother taught me how to do both...

lately i have been feeling like a snake about to shed its skin, nearing a rebirth of sorts... on thinking of snakes the nagging biases from judeo-christian idealogy seem to rear their heads... this is unfortunate... in other very old cultures, snakes are guardians entrusted with protecting sacred spaces... the naga in hinduism and buddhism represent rebirth...

do you experience moments where in the midst of utter chaos, you simply must make something? right then? even though in your right mind you know that it is no time to do such a thing? welp, i did... and i am so glad... i love this - i plan on working with it more - in different fibers, mixed with fine wire... now if i could only order up a little less chaos... but maybe it was the chaos that caused me to focus upon what brings me calm... so it was all balanced after all...

the beauty of a good challenge

'i shut my eyes in order to see.'
~ paul gauguin

i committed to the ring a week challenge this year... for all that deadlines can often fill me with dread, this one sets me free... it is the place my mind goes to play while i figure out what i 'need' to do with other pieces and other aspects of my life...

RAW 1 - landscape of the sky

and this week -

what do you like/dread about challenges?
and you still have a couple of more days to enter our call to create for january...

deep places, private spaces

this week i seemed to spend a lot of time translating the deep places i wander into my work...

'on faerie's wings' is an exploration of light that comes from within, of wishes we have and wishes we make, sending them out into the universe on the wings of faeries...

'you create your universe' is about the power of thoughts... how one beautiful thought can touch so many, creating a ripple effect... the earrings make a slight jingling noise... i rather like that...

'inner sanctum' is about my most personal space... where i retreat to when i need to reconnect  with my Self...  it is an ancient place, a clearing in the forest with lichen covered stumps... winds rustle the leaves... and thin shafts of light enter through trees...

where did your work lead you this week? or where did you lead your work?

*thank you so much for the really wonderful birthday wishes & please note that i answered any questions left in the comments section if i could not find your email address*
