100th Post and Treasuries!

First I want to celebrate my 100th posting yesterday. Didn't realize it until I came to do a post today! I have grown very fond of this blog, as well as all my blogger friends I have made in maintaining it!

Incidentally, I am in a couple treasuries and on FoundHandmade! If you click the images below, it will take you to the treasury page to comment!

First Treasury:

Retro for Real treasury curated by FiberFancy
Piece chosen: Grape Vintage Stacked Button Bracelet

Next Treasury:

...the edge of a petal... treasury curated by Monarchdancer
Piece chosen: Mustard Seed Vintage Button Brooch

And, as an added treat, one of my pieces is/was featured on FoundHandmade! What an honor to be in two treasuries AND FoundHandmade! Sure made my day! Thank you to everyone who chose my pieces!

Happy Monday!

I am glad to report that my Monday is a very Happy one indeed! Getting orders out, making phone calls, connecting with contacts...what could be sweeter?

This Thursday will be the pilot launch of my Feature Thursdays. You will have a chance to hear from some great artisans in some insightful interviews. You will get a chance to get to know the artisans better as well as maybe learn a trick or two. Who would want to turn that down? You never know what you might learn! My interview questions were designed to offer insight and learning to the beginner artisan just starting out and seasoned artisan looking for fresh ideas. This is not your ordinary Blog Feature, Lucy!

In all fairness, I will be doing an interview on myself on Wednesday as a primer so you know what to expect from these interviews. It's not fair for other artisans to offer advice while I keep my little gems to myself. Some cultures say that karmic debt is a real thing. Don't take a penny unless you are willing to leave one. Well, I'm baring my pennies Wednesday, so don't miss it!

I am also working in another regular posting on Tuesdays...Tip Tuesdays. These tips can range from artistic tips to business tips. Be sure to check it out and not miss it. You may learn a thing or two (or not!), who knows, but don't miss the boat...you'll only get wet!

Incidentally, Jerri did a blog feature on me last week. Great job, Jerri...check it out here!

Okay, not stop reading and get back to work. May your Monday be as swell as mine, just take it easy on the coffee!

French Country, Anyone?...

Daisy French Country Vintage Button Necklace
Alterity
1000Markets

I have recently fallen in love with the vintage French Country look and have made my first attempt at vintage french country jewelry...of course, with vintage buttons! Don't worry, the buttons were not damaged in the creation of this piece! The main button is a vintage ceramic button (probably the 70's or 80's) featuring blue and yellow flowers, and little blue vintage glass buttons (turn of the century 1900's) from Germany were added just up from the ceramic button. The rest of the necklace was hand-wired (no manufactured chain here, folks) from tarnish-proof copper wire to protect your skin. Various vintage glass czech beads were either wired on the chain or drops from the handmade links on the chain. I currently have this piece for sale in my 1000Markets shop (Alterity).

The creation of this piece was brought on by a bad case of "I love challenges!" I am a member of the Jewelry Artisans' Marketplace and every month we are prompted with a new challenge. This month's challenge was "Flower Garden". This was my challenge contribution this month. You can see other artisan's challenge results the Jewelry Artisans' Marketplace blog. A lot of talent here!
Keep an eye on my shop at 1000Markets as more will be coming soon!
