Flashback Friday

Even before I lived in North Carolina, I loved it down here. You can thank One Tree Hill.

It all started in 2005 when me and a friend roadtripped to Wilmington to stalk the cast. This is way before the Visitor Center gave maps of filming locations. We literally drove around to all the house, the mall, anything that was even shown on the show...we visited. We made friends with a tech guy, who drew us a map of how to find even more houses. We were obsessed. We were extras on the show. Remember the scene where Lucas steals money out the cash register at Karen's Cafe? Yep, I'm there.

The next roadtrip was for three reasons: to see the Tar Heels at open practice in New Jersey, visit UNC Chapel Hill...and to go to the One Tree Hill Charity Basketball Game. I think I was pretending to be a basketball fan. It was a fast trip, but we had a lot of fun! The only thing I really remember is that Chad Michael Murray showed up late and that I had no interest in meeting him.

Me and Fergie from One Tree Hill

In 2007 we roadtripped again. We did more stalking of the cast, did some historical stuff, went to the beach, saw a play...and met Chad Michael Murray. I'll let the pictures do the talking for this one!

Look how "happy" I am to be meeting him!

I visited again in 2008. This was the last trip I took before I decided to move down here. I was visiting my friend who I did all my roadtrips with. We ate at Top of the Hill, saw a basketball game...and then did what we did best, roadtripped back to Massachusetts!

In June 2009 I made the big move to Carrboro, North Carolina. I loved the town, it was so hippie and artsy...so me. My roommate was the worst (the girl I went on roadtrips with...) so I didn't spend much time in the area. I'll never regret the move though, if I didn't do it, I never would have met Danny!

My first time at Bojangles!

Who would have thought that after my first trip to Wilmington, NC that I would be living less than an hour away? Instead of a 13 hour trip, it's an hour trip. So strange how things work out!

One of our many trips to Wilmington!

I was in Washington DC, visiting a "friend." I use quotation marks because this might have been a fake friendship, he hasn't talked to me since I met Danny. Jealous? But anyway, back to the trip! He's kinda a big-wig so we had a personal tour of the Capital, went to a few Smithsonian museums, had a night of destruction that included a bar where you make your own drinks and a semi-strip club, Sonic AND a Dave Matthews Band concert.  Fun weekend..and thinking about it totally makes me want to go back to DC!

Last week I briefly mentioned the 80's cover band I saw every week for 6 months in 2009. We were dedicated fans, knew the "secret" dance moves to certain songs, and yes...I even went on a date with the keytarist. To show how loyal we were, me and my friend Jen decided to make fan groupie shirts. They said "Hardcore Fast Times Animal" because the drummer said we were "hardcore fans" and the bassist said we were "animals"....and we hung onto every word they said. That night, we also shared a huge scorpion bowl! YUM!

This was right in the middle of my 6 months of destruction. Every weekend involved an 80’s cover band and a lot of alcohol. This particular night we decided to save some money…instead of going out to eat, I made dinner and bought a bottle of wine. Oh, did I mention..I probably had some sort of eating disorder at this time…and most definitely wasn’t eating the recommended amount of calories. Read between the lines…alcohol hit me A LOT harder! So, after eating and drinking we made our way into the city. The plan: NO MORE DRINKING. Except, according to my camera…I drank beer and did a few shots. Oh, I also made a fool out of myself. Don’t ever ask the guy you are dating if you can date his friend. It makes things awkward! And when you drink and a song tells you to “get low.” Don’t listen! Sometimes you can’t get back up!

Flashback Friday

(Is it too much to do "I Want it Wednesday" AND "Flashback Friday?")

This is going to be fun for me...because not only do I have a blog, but I've also had a Livejournal for SIX years! So every Friday, I plan to go through my Livejournal to the exact date (to the most interesting story on that date in the past 6 years.)

After watching months of RENT on dvd, having my roommates singing "Seasons of Love" (in a line, of course,) it was finallyyyy time for me to see RENT in New York City! I LOVED it on stage. My only problem was, if I didn't see the movie I would have had no idea what was going on! I sat next to two older women who were clueless, I had to explain the whole show to them during intermission! The highlight of the trip for me was going to Maxies for dinner! NYC prices are SO expensive, for example Maxies has a $22 tuna melt. I will never forget how it took 5 minutes to be served our hamburger...and 20 minutes to get our cheesecake. After a long, freezing day..we got back on the bus and headed back to Massachusetts! I miss being so close to the city!
