Time Flies When You're Having Fun

Why is it that Monday through Friday d-r-a-g but the weekend flies by. I swear the twenty-four hour rule doesn't apply to weekends...the universe knows that people are having fun so time is magically shortened. So, to the universe...please stop, I really like weekends!

You can add this weekend to the list of "great weekends." Friday night was supposed to be girls night, but it ended up being a group thing. And it was awesome. Ten of us went to the hibachi and had some good laughs and a lot of fun. Our chef of the night who calls himself Bob was awesome...and I've never seen so much rice in my life. Ten people sure can eat a lot of rice. I swear I had a large order all to myself.

The fun didn't end when we left the restaurant. My new friend Stephanie came over, so I chilled a bottle of wine...or three. Danny and Justin got some beer...and then the Gambizzles came! We stayed up all night drinking wine and chit-chatting. Three bottles of wine, thirty-six beers later, and a failed attempt to make the guys walk Justin home...it was finally time for bed.

Saturday morning the Gambizzle's had to be up early for a photoshoot. I couldn't believe it...but Miley actually let us sleep past 10:00. HOLY CRAP! And thank goodness for that...I wasn't feeling very human-like when I finally did get up. I think I took a long shower at 11 and then refused to get dress until 1. My head was pounding. It was definitely one of those "never-drinking-again" type of days.

Except we planned to go to the winery for dinner. It was probably a good thing it was closed for the night. Instead we went to Front Street Brewery...not for the beer, but for the amazing nachos! The four of us really showed our "old age" when we decided not to go bowling...but watch Toy Story 3 instead. So, that's how we spent our Saturday night. And I must say....I kinda loved it!

I didn't know Bojangles was a North Carolina place. We spent a good portion of our weekend talking about the "best kept secret" and how they should "share the goodness." The four of us had breakfast there this morning..and we were so under dressed. That's right...under dressed at a fast food place!! It's apparently the happening place to be after church.

While the guys played Black Ops (Danny can't wait for Christmas, he just had to rent the game....) me and Marie went on base. I think it's insane that things don't open until 11AM in the south. So, we paid Katie a little visit! It was nice to have a little girl time and just hangout. And I must say...I'm getting so excited for Katie's wedding. I can't believe it's a little over six weeks away!

And now...it's Sunday. I hate that the "daily-grind" starts on Sunday for us now. I also hate that I took one picture this weekend. I have zero proof that the Gambizzle's were even here! So, you know what that means? We are just going to have to do it again!

Edit: Just an FYI - Bojangles was founded in Jacksonville.

Grown Ups, Bowling, and Breakfast

I'm convinced I'll never be able to sleep in again. I'm searching my brain for the last time I slept past 7:30. I can't come up with anything. The day after our wedding we were up at 6:30...it's been a trend ever since then. Miley is an early bird, 6:11 everyday. No matter how much I beg and plead with her...she refuses to go back to sleep. But apparently nap time is at 8:00. And when I wake her up..she isn't very happy with me. See, how do you like it?!

Anyway, even with the lack of sleep it was still an awesome weekend. We finally got to see Grown Ups. I loved it, I thought it was so funny. It was a good date night!

Danny went golfing on Saturday. We were having a cookout at night, so I spent the day preparing. I made an awesome steak marinade (so simple, put olive oil, lemon juice, lots of garlic, herbs and chopped onion into a blender and blend until smooth...seriously so good) and potato salad. And I was so bored that I suffered through Jersey Girl.

We had Danny's friend and his wife, Natosha, over for dinner. It's always awkward to me when we have people over who I never met before. Especially if it's a girl, I feel like I never really have anything to talk about (most of them are so much younger.) Like me, she also doesn't work, but she doesn't know anyone...and she hasn't been out to explore. Not that there is much to explore in Jacksonville..but she has never even been to Wilmington! So, I told her we would have to go on a mini roadtrip and do some shopping!

After dinner we went bowling on base. Besides my drinking in the barracks (uh...yea..) I've never hungout on base before. I kicked butt my first game, but when more people start showing up..I get nervous and I start sucking! I had a lot of fun though, it was nice to get out and hangout with another couple.

Danny got trashed. It was hysterical. Two in the morning he decided he needed to go the bathroom. But he was standing at the wall, trying to open an invisible door. I was dying laughing, trying to ask if he even knew where the bathroom was. That's how you know you had a successful night out!

We went to the Cracker Barrel for breakfast. I swear, whoever invented the hashbrown casserole needs some sort of award. It's so yummy. We did the Sunday routine haircut. We were supposed to have a lazy Sunday. Danny ended up going paint-balling with some guys. So, me and Miley spent our Sunday watching WE TV and wishing we were millionaires.

Right now we are planning a trip to Busch Gardens! Free tickets, not too far away to worry about cost of gas, cheap hotel that allows dogs. I'm in!

My only complaint about the weekend? It went by way too fast.

OH! And please vote for Miley on this site! Please and thank you!

Movies that Make Me Miss Home

Last night  me and Danny saw Grown Ups. I should have known that since it was an Adam Sandler movie that it was going to take place in New England. I should have expected to see things that I recognize. But, I didn't. In the middle movie they eat dinner at Woodman's....and suddenly I wished that I was home. I miss cool New England nights, I miss the awesome fried clams at Woodman's...and I miss the live music (Jeff Fraser!) at Woodman's. I remember taking my Mom to Woodman's on Mother's Day a few years ago..we literally had to wait in lline for TWO HOURS to eat those delicious fried clams!

Other movies that make me miss home? Mall Cop. What an awful movie. But it was filmed at the Burlington Mall. It was so weird to see MY mall decorated for Christmas in the spring. We were always on the look out for Kevin James. My sister was an extra in the movie..and my aunt has an awesome picture of Kevin James with his Mall Cop mustache.

The Proposal. It was filmed in Rockport, the wedding band was Men in Black..headed by Jeff Fraser (my favorite local musician!) I was so so so so so excited to see the movie and see  the band. But their scene was cut! The day the DVD came out, I couldn't wait to watch the extras. NOTHING! This picture is proof that they were in it! And this link proves I know the band..oh hey, is that me in 12th picture?!?

Fever Pitch. I remember the night The Sox beat the Yankees. We lit the quad on fire at my college. It was amazing. Watching that movie reminds me of that amazing night.

Other things that make me miss home? Life is Good shirts (Bert was the speaker at my college graduation!) Sam Adams (does that even need an explanation) New Kids on the Block, Duck Tours, Red Sox and people who drop their "r's.

Ah, thinking of home makes me want to share these pictures. I spent every Friday night at my favorite Boston bars. Lot's of alcohol was consumed. Don't judge!
