Petite Friendly Blazers: Theory Gabe and Sparkle and Fade

Meet Gabe, my new blazer plucked from the clearance rack at Boomies. I wasn't sure about him at first, but the real bf Nick encouraged me to take him home.

Leggings: H&M sz 2 

Blazer: Theory Gabe sz 00 (sleeves folded in)

Wedges: Tory Burch Sophia sz 5.5

Gabe is Theory's most classic blazer - they offer it season after season in their popular "tailor" fabric, in black and at least two other colors. Bloomies online has both the Gabe blazer and Max C. pants in sz 00, as well as the matching Betty sheath dress which is on my work wishlist.

Satchel: Speedy 25 w/ DIY pin Necklaces: ebay gray pearls & J.Crew crystal chains

Fit: The shoulders are narrow (but padded) and the torso is cut very slim, but the length and sleeves will be quite long on tiny petites.

For pant or skirt suit purposes, I encourage shorter petites to stay away from Gabe because of the long length. The full suit looked terribly matronly on me, but i think it works as a boyfriend-style blazer.

Measurements: 23" length, 14" across shoulders, 13.5" across the waist, and 24" long sleeves (I have them folded under in the pics by several inches!)

Quality: I think this jacket is tailored impeccably. 96% wool, 4% lycra - the ultimate, comfy suiting material that never wrinkles. Fully lined with three working pockets. Made in the USA.

Value: The $375 retail tag is steep, but you can frequently find Theory on sale at Saks, Bloomies, Neiman and the like. Or you can wait for one of their Friends & Family sales to get 20% or more off. Theory suiting in their "tailor" fabric is well worth the investment in my opinion.

I've been looking for a longer "boyfriend" style jacket for a while, but I actually wasn't sold on Gabe until I tried on this one from Urban Outfitters:

Yeech! Can you note all the differences? I won't even go through a full review with this one.

- long shapeless silhouette = lab technician 

- too-long lapel draws eyes to the crotch instead of the waist

- lack of shoulder structure makes posture look droopy, etc etc. 

*But* I liked the side/back views. This might look great as a casual chic blazer on someone who can pull off that style. It's currently 50% off on the U.O. website with free return shipping.

Urban Outfitters Peplum Jacket Overload

I'm late to the party...the Kimchi Blue peplum jacket party, that is. You guys must be so sick of seeing this jacket on every petite blogger, but here is my un-enthusiastic contribution:

When I first pulled this jacket out of the bag I was dismayed by the poor worksmanship...Vicky said it best "whoever stitched this jacket must've been drunk..." The stitching on my jacket was way uneven, there were about 5 loose threads hanging, plus a button was dangling undone. For $30 though I guess I can't ask for too much!

My favorite thing about this sweater-jacket is the peplum back. It's very cute for casual wear, but I had trouble making it look professional. I like how PetiteLG styled it above, but I don't have a gray sheath dress. After my last U.O. jacket purchase which I ended up wearing for just 2 hours (it's gonna hit the blog sale soon), I think I learned my lesson and will pass on something that won't get much wear, regardless of how cheap it was.

Tiny Blazer Find: Lucca Couture "Skylar" sz XS

A quick post because I need to go pack for North Carolina (I'm a super light packer by the way, for 3 "work days" I will bring a laptop bag and a longchamp tote). I spent some time during my college years interning near Charlotte, and fell in love with the area. Can't wait to go back for some BBQ and sweet tea - drool.

So after painstakingly choosing what to keep from my last Urban Outfitters haul, I popped into a store last week to make my returns...and ended up finding at least 10 more items to try on. Go figure...

So much stuff was on sale for $10 or $20, but I stayed strong and resisted buying anything "just because" it was cheap. This little blazer however caught my eye on a mannequin, where it looked super cute paired over a floral sundress w/ the sleeves scrunched up.

Jacket: Lucca Couture "Skylar" in sz XS

Dress: Banana Republic 00P

Shoes: old Macy's pumps

Belt: J.Crew sz S w/ extra holes

Seeing this photo I now realize I cuffed the sleeves way too much. Photos really are the best way to truly see and critique your own outfits. You guys will have to trust me that this jacket looks better over casual dresses...I felt very informal at work and won't wear it like this again.

The jacket is completely unlined and the cotton material is reminiscent of railroad denim. The sleeves are a little too wide and hit me awkwardly right above the wrists. There were tons of this at my local U.O. (one color was full price at $59, mine was on sale for $30), and I also found it here at some random store called Alloy. So I guess Urban Outfitters' lines are not exclusive to them!

I thought $30 was too much, but the bf liked it so much he got it for me (rare...rare...but no complaints!).

This here is the knit BR sheath again that apparently many of you also own! I've been wearing it a lot this summer because it's comfy, but I always catch panty lines from the back because the fabric is so clingy, grr.

Urban Outfitters XS Review - Help me decide!

**Henrietta Pertuz Petites is having 40% off all items w/ code" summer40" to make way for her Fall collection. Two things left in sz 0: this gorgeous cream/navy silk blouse, and the Newport Dress **

So last Friday I ordered a few things from Urban Outfitters after discovering that they had free return shipping. The items came so fast (2 days), and those who chat with me on Twitter already know that I am pleased with the haul. It's really rare for me to find items that satisfy the categories of fit, style, AND price!

First up, this Kimchi Blue lace skirt in sz XS, $29.99:

Pros: Super feminine and flirty, great details, fits me perfectly both waist and length-wise.
Cons: SHEER! I am wearing a nude slip skirt from Target. Also, I wish the lace paneling went all the way around, instead of just on the front.

 Next up, this Kimchi Blue Lace Blouse and Pins and Needles Silk Skirt. Both are $19.99 and sz XS:

Both pieces are a lil crinkled from shipping and just need a hot shower steam:

(blouse is sheer; wearing a cami underneath)

If you think this outfit looks familiar...it's because PetiteXXS reviewed very similar items just yesterday!

Blouse
Pros - fits nicely on me both tucked in and let out. Pretty detailing.
Cons - very, very delicate...I can see myself easily snagging this then kicking myself for it.

Skirt
Pros - Very tiny fitting. Nice, stretchy, gathered waist plus pretty ruffle detailing on the bottom. Also, $20 is a great price for 100% silk!
Cons - In the model photo, you can see that the hem has already come unraveled on the ruffles. It doesn't look so nice that way!

All in all, I can see potential in each of the three items if I put some effort into the styling. However, although I like everything, I don't wear a lot of casual attire so I have no need for all three. I'm very torn ... please help me decide by voting for your fave (if any)!
