Social Networking Karma!

What is Social Networking Karma? Why am I talking about it? First let's back up and examine the idea of Karma...

Karma, the Golden Rule, "What goes around comes around," - whatever you call it, it's a concept that has been around for for a long time. When you do nice things for other's, it often comes back to you in wonderful and unexpected ways. Right?

Now let me ask you a question. Do you ever get tired of promoting yourself? I know I do! There have definitely been times when I get tired of tooting my own horn and where I feel like I'm just blabbing to the universe with no feedback. The various social networking sites were starting to feel pointless. That's when I started thinking about Social Networking Karma.

Now, I don't want you to think I came upon this idea on my own, this has been a long process and I know that there have been a lot of different artists who've given me individual ideas that I eventually pulled together into a whole!

How it works:

Social Networking Karma happens when you promote artists (authors, bloggers, etc), other than yourself. You can do this in a lot of ways! See something you like? Share it on Twitter, Facebook, Plurk, or your blog! Then, and this is key, tell that person where you've shared it and send them a link. You'll be amazed at the results!

Since I've started practicing this habit the results have blown me away. I've had people e-mail me and tell me that I've made their day because they had a horrible day and having someone do something nice just totally floored them. I've had people tell me that they were considering shutting down their shop, then I promoted them, and it made them think that maybe there is some value to their work. I've also had a lot of people return the favor and promote me in one way or another.

There's no feeling like it! When they return the promotion, it's great, but it's the people who's day's I make, or who I end up building a relationship with them as a result, that I love :)

I'm going to be talking about some different approaches to practice Social Networking Karma over the next few weeks. Specifically we'll be talking about Twitter, Facebook, and Blogging. I may add to that list as I continue to explore the topic!

Purple Tulip, aka started wire wrapping again - SOLD

After a few months of abstinence from wire wrapping, here my next piece. My fingers were itching to do something, so I came up with this pendant. It's really beautiful, I couldn't capture it with the camera properly. I guess it's time to get myself a new camera as well...

Gorgeous amethyst briolette hanging from a sterling silver pendant. Size is ~ 3.5x3.5cm (~1.5 inch). Comes with the silver chain in the picture, and of course, free shipping all around.

Which is Your Favorite Piece?

Now that byhand.me has their spotlights fixed - it's time to do a run down on some of my most recent listings or relistings! Which is your favorite piece? Leave me a comment and let me know! All comments about what piece you like will earn you TWO entries into my monthly top commentator contest!

Goldstone wrapped bracelet

I made this wire wrapped bracelet last night from Jessie Donnan's first book. I always wanted to make this style of bracelet, but never quite knew how to pull it off. Of course, now that I saw it in the book, it's quite easy *grins*.
I messed up a bit the right side of the clasp, so this one stays with me as a prototype. It's quite comfy to wear, I had it on today at work and was great. It's more a bangle and you can shape it with hands on how much to bend. Which is good because it fits all sorts of wrists, from the thinner to the fuller.
Goes with pretty much anything, from jeans to anything blue, black white, yellow and even red. Maybe not green though, lol.

Silver cross for hubby

In Cyprus people are pretty religious and almost everyone has in their car hanging from the mirror a cross, or a rosary.
When hubby sold his car a few months ago and bought a new one, he left his cross in the other car. So recently he asked me to make him a cross. Had no idea what to do, and didn't want to try Iza's tutorial as I still find it a bit intimidating, but today as I was flipping through some books I bought about a year ago from Jessy Donnan, I found a tute for this cross, so I got to work. Rather on the simple side, but I've never done anything like this before, so it was a new experience for me.
Was not sure what hubby would say about it, I was afraid he's say it's too girly, but when saw it, he loved it and got very excited about it. We quickly went down to his car with a longer silver chain and the flush cutter to cut the chain to size, and put the cross in his car right away :D
I've tumbled it a bit before and I must say it's really nice and shiny hanging from behind the mirror :)
I see a few tiny nicks I made with the pliers in the wire, but they are hardly visible with the naked eye.

Dichro wrapped pendant

Here is the pendant I made with the drawn square wire (see previous post).
It's a bit more difficult to wrap a square cab, it was definitely an interesting learning experience.

The pendant measurements : ~4x4 cm + ~1 cm for the wrapped bail.

You can buy this pendant on a silver chain right from the blog by paying easily through Paypal:

Hematite Border wrapped cab

I bought a while ago a few cabs from Szarka and didn't know how to wrap them. Then I bought just a bit of square silver from Monsterslayer in the US (shipping nearly killed me, boy I'm glad to be still alive, lol), so last night I made this cab based on an online tute. This is the result.
Hematite stone with sterling silver.
