Surface Embellishment and Jewelry Making

One of the cheapest ways to add beauty to a finding is by surface embellishing and one type of surface embellishment is decoupage or collage.

Decoupage is the art of decorating an object by using colored paper cut outs and cluing it onto a surface. Usually, decoupage is done on boxes, furnitures, mirrors, photograph albums and other flat surfaces and just by using a special kind of glue and varnishes to protect the cut out paper and viola! You have created a new piece. But we can also incorporate decoupage in jewelry making. You can make pendants, rings and charms embellished with cut out papers of your choice and put a special glue for metal findings to hold the cut out paper. You can also add other findings like flat back rhinestones or other metal findings to add uniqueness to your jewelry piece.

Here are some samples of jewelries that have been embellished.
