A Quickie Tutorial from Rubies and Pearls

Hello everyone!

Found this easy and quickie tutorial for earrings that uses lace, glue, post pad earrings and scissors. My aunt is a dressmaker so I bet finding colorful laces to use wouldn’t be a hard for me.

Hannah had made this one so easy... no special technique that anyone can easily follow.

I think this would be a great gift for baby girls so let’s together start making the Lace Earrings with this free tutorial that Hannah has shared in her blog Rubies and Pearls.

I could make lots of these for my cousins’ babies, too.

Earring Cards Tutorials

I use these little ones to display my earrings. I buy them in packs, not too expensive, but the cost still adds up to the price of the pieces and I don’t want that. I have to make the earrings more presentable when I offer them to my clients or when I have them in display so I still need to have these earring holders, but the added expense bothers me.

Good thing I was able to find great tutorials on how to make my own earring card holders.

Here goes...

Bridal Jewelry to Match Your Wedding Gown

Don't miss a post! Subscribe to Handmade Jewelry Club by Email FREE

The final accessories that match perfectly with your wedding gown are the bridal necklace, earrings, bracelet and hair accessories. Picking the right combination that works well with your bridal gown is the key to finishing off your bridal look.

Whether you are having a huge fancy wedding or a small gathering, finding the right final touches will add that extra sparkle and sophistication to look pulled together and complete.

A great place to start determining what bridal jewelry you will wear is to look at the fabric of your bridal gown. Are you wearing a traditional white gown, ivory and cream or another unique color? Does your gown have a colorful sash or embroidery details that those colors can be included into your bridal jewelry? These are the things to begin considering on your hunt for the right jewelry. Once you’ve determined your colors, you are set for the next step.

Look at your gown for embellishments. Are there rhinestones, pearls, crystals or bows on your gown? These are all details that can be of good use and guidance while selecting your bridal jewelry. If your gown has rhinestones on it, you may want to consider wearing bridal jewelry that also has rhinestones. The same goes for pearls, crystals, bows, ruffles and more.

After you’ve determined your colors and your materials to be included into your wedding jewelry, the next step is picking out which pieces you will want to include in your look. Some brides like to wear bracelets, necklaces, earrings and hair accessories all together. While other brides may only want a pair of earrings and a necklace. This is totally a personal style issue and it’s good narrow down what you like and what will work with your bridal gown.

Once you’ve determined the actual pieces you want the shopping can begin. If you’re looking for earrings, pick something that both compliments your bridal gown as well as your own personal style. If you like a more dramatic flair, chandelier bridal earrings may be just your right fit. If you are more understated and want a simpler look, standard drop earrings might get the job done.

When it comes to selecting your necklace style, you really must consider the neckline of your bridal gown. If you have a halter top, almost any style necklace will work, but if your gown wraps around your neck, a necklace might not be the right accessory for you. Whether you want your necklace to drape over your bridal gown, or just kiss the top of the neckline, find a fit that is perfect. A custom bridal jewelry designer can accomplish this task for you and it’s your wedding, so don’t settle for something that’s not perfect for you.

If you have no idea what styles you really want to wear or would look good with your bridal gown, consider all of your options. Take a friend with you to try on your gown and then whether you shop in stores or online, she can help you pick out a style that will match your gown perfectly while still reflecting your style.

We all know that once the wedding is over, the dress and shoes go away to be preserved. The wedding jewelry doesn’t have to. Of course you won’t be wearing that tiara again anytime soon, but the earrings, necklace and bracelet that you pick out can be worn for other special and formal occasions.

What's the right pair of earrings for your face shape?

(Article extracted from Simply Her magazine, Sept 09)

Round : Avoid hoop styles. Go for long, slim or oblong designs which draw the eye downwards and help make your face look longer and narrower.

Oval : Almost any style goes for this ideal face shape. Try a fun spiral style.

Heart : Look for bold designs and shapes that are wide at the bottom and end several inches below your lobes.

Square : Avoid rectangle or harsh-angle styles. Hoop and teardrop designs are a better bet as they help balance out the angular shape of your face.

Tip! when wearing oversized dangly earrings, keep your outfit simple so the focus is on your ears.

Valentine's Day Jewelry Making & Craft Project

My cousin sister has given me a good idea for doing some Valentine's Day craft project using wires. Thought it is a good idea as handmade jewelries and accessories made by wires are very very affordable. During the current economic slowdown, DIY is the best way to save and yet to give very meaningful gifts for your loved ones. Your loved ones will receive something that is one-of-a-kind, and made with care and attention.

Below are the projects I did yesterday. Wanna to try? Get some wires and get started now!

Trying Out Wire Wrapping and Coiling

Have been too busy working on 'enhancing' Handmade Jewelry Club until I have to sacrifice my time to try out new jewelry making methods. Today, I have set aside few hours looking at the manik manik (beads) I have and decided to try out wire wrapping by using Turquoise beads. Here is the outcome:

Photobucket

I began to understand why some people got addicted to wire wrapping as it is really fun and flexible. You can just tweak it whatever you like. Well, someone told me I still need to polish up my wire wrapping skills. So I will keep this piece for myself and will do up others as gifts for my friends and daughter.
