Felt jewelries for kids, teens and ladies

Hello Handmade Jewelry Club readers! I found four great jewelry pieces made of felt. Rebecca, Lisa, Bea and The Craftivist have made cool designs for earrings, bracelet and necklaces for girls of all ages.

Just a trivia, felt is an interesting material made of wool fibres, matted, condensed and pressed. Felt has many uses. One common use of felt is for a car that is used to protect the hood. Sometimes it’s called car bra or car mask. Another common use of felt is for making puppets and fedoras. There are also tough felts that can be used for construction materials. Nowadays, felt is also used in making accessories and I’m going to show you these four great tutorials, and get some good tips on how to make your own felt jewelries.

First let’s make one for the kids by turning your child’s doodles into a felt bracelet.

This is a great bonding time with the family. You can have your kids personalize their bracelet with their favorite characters sewn on the felt. Try it out with your kids and follow this free tutorial fromLisa of 5 Orange Potatoes.

This next piece would be for the teens.

Really cool! Yeah!!!

The Crafitivist has made the skulls look cute and funny J Felts are easy to cut and so you can create whatever shape or character you like. Funky teens would find this Friendly Neighborhood Skully Necklace cool to wear. Visit The Crafitivist Shakedown blog and get more ideas on how to make the skully necklace.

Now, these two would be great for the ladies.

Felt Flower Necklace

You can try and make your flowers bigger, or smaller, or how many you would want. Just follow thefree tutorial from Curios Bea’s Blog.

Anthropoligie Copy Cat Earrings

I really love this one from Rebecca. She did a really good job creating the earrings. Follow her free tutorial and find out how she made the earrings. It’s really cool how!

Buttoned Choker

This is a choker made from round leather cords with a flower button that serves as the focal bead.

Cross Pendant Using Chain Maille Technique

Remember the Cross Pendant Collection 4 that I shared earlier? The tutorial is ready and can be purchased now.

This is my fourth cross pendant collection. This time round I am using chain maille techniques. To be specific, the design is based on full Persian weave. The weave is applied commonly in bracelet and necklace.

This tutorial will show you with detailed pictorial step by step guides. Step 1 to step 9 will show you the basic of making full persian weave and the subsequent steps will show you how to make the cross. By going through the tutorial, you will be able to know how to make a bracelet and the cross as shown in the pictures. The cross is using stainless steel rings with diameter of 8cm. For beginner, I would suggest that you practice the weave using bigger rings. This is one of the harder weaves to understand at first, but it gets easier.

The tutorial is developed with clear pictorial step by step guides. And will be delivered to your email address in PDF format within 24 hours once I receive your payment.

Making Bake-able Beads from Craft Clays

You can make bake-able beads from many different types of craft clay. For easy at home jewelry making you will want to get oven-bake hardening clay.

Earings from: byzarah.com
This makes for a fun project anyone can enjoy. Pick some clay of colors you want to use and pull off a small bit of each or just one color.

Photobucket
Photo From: Flickr.com
Try rolling the clay into balls and shapes to make the clay softer and workable. This step will also help you get some ideas on bead shapes. Once you have made the clay workable you can take just one, or many, colors and begin to mix them into patterns.

Laying clays on top of one another or twisting strings of colors together are some favorite methods of color combining. After you have made the blotched color combination you desire, roll out the clay wad into a string the width you want the beads to become.

Cut off pieces and roll them into shapes or leave them and poke holes through them. Once the clay has spent the appropriate amount of time in the oven, you can cool, sting, and wear your great creations.

Step by step tutorial for wired bangle Part 1

In the earlier post, I told you I will share with you step by step guides to make simple bangles... I will break the process into 2 different posts.

The guide below is based on the design above. However, it is pretty fleaxible for you to mix and match with other beads based on your preference.

Materias required:

16 gauge copper wires (thick wires) to form the frame.

26 gauge copper wires (thin wires)

16 x 0.8cm rounds beads

8 x 1.5cm round beads

1. Cut 4 pieces of 16 gauge thick wires approximately 12 inches in length.

2. Cut approximaly 25 inch of 26 gauge think wires. Attach the thin wires around the thick wires 4 times.

3. Thread in a 0.8cm of round bead and place it next the to thick wires.

4. Place the second thick wires next to the round bead at the other end. Wrap the thin wires around the thick wires to secure the position.

5. You may like to push the beads towards to right hand side of the bangle. It is easier for you to wrap the thin wires against the thick wires for the subsequent steps.

6. Now thread in the 1.5cm round bead and place it next to the second thick wires.

7. Place the the third thick wires and wrap the thin wires around the tick wires for 8 times.

8. Now, thread in the next 0.8cm bead and park it next the third wires.

9. Then place the fourth thick wires next the the small bead and tie the thin wires for 8 times.

Hope you will be able to follow so far. Watch out for the next post for the subsequent steps.
