One Tank Trip

That's what Danny calls our quick weekend getaways. And they really are one tank trips, we fill up before we head to our destination and then when we head back home. And in our car, that's cheap, cheap, cheap!

Friday afternoon I put Miley in the kennel for the weekend, she likes it, I hate it. She doesn't even look back when I drop her off! Then me and Danny headed out on the backroads of North Carolina to get to our destination. The sky was so pretty for the entire trip.

We drove four hours north to end up in Williamsburg, VA. I love roadtrips with Danny, he blasts the most random songs. And when we saw a sign that said "Jamestown Plantation" he said "Oh yea, that's the place where John Smith screwed Pocahontas." He cracks me up!

I was so so excited to sleep in Saturday. And by sleep in, I mean 7:30. At this point in my life, if I'm not being woken up by an alarm or the dog, I consider it sleeping in! We had the worst continental breakfast at the hotel. Bread, bananas, and 12 pots of coffee. I was happy for the coffee...but only sugar and cream. ICK!

We got an early start to Busch Gardens, we were there before the parking lot even opened. We had our free passes already printed (love saving over $120 before you even walk in!) and headed into the park. There was no one around and we managed to do the entire park without waiting in any lines...before noon time!

Just as we were finishing our loop around the park again, I met up with a bloggy love! I was so excited that Allie (My Marine and Me) and her husband Ryan were coming out to hangout with us. BUT none of us planned for the awful traffic that they had to sit in just to get to us! We did a few coasters together, lots of laughing and had some fun! Note to Allie: Please don't ever drive on 95 again! It's not good for your (or the cars) health!

After being at the park for 11 hours, me and Danny decided to skip out on the fireworks. Instead we headed to Jungle Jims for some dinner and drinks. I almost fell asleep at dinner. I couldn't even finish my margarita, I was so exhausted. Way too much sun and fun for one day! And I'm getting old, the rollercoasters made my head hurt so bad. We were in the hotel for literally two seconds before I passed out!

We left Virginia around 8:30 this morning, making a stop at Shoney's for breakfast. My very first time and the smell of bacon was amazing. It always shocks Danny that I get overly excited about food. The drive home was longer. We had friends pick up Miley (we call them Uncle Dan and Aunt Natosha...Miley loves them!) and watch her until we got home. I've been lazy ever since!

We had such a great (and exhausting) weekend. I wish we had a little more time to explore all the historical stuff. Guess we'll just have to go back!

And yes, we're going on another one tank trip next weekend!
