CZ means Cubic Zirconia

It sounds like you claim to keep silence, "CCCCCCCC..." This sound reminds you of a bee buzz, "ZZZZZZZZZ..." If you put this letters together, it will be something strange, "CZ". Let's open Wikipedia for "CZ", and the first result returns you "Cubic Zirconia". We read, "Cubic Zirconia (or CZ) is the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide. The synthesized material is hard, optically flawless and usually colorless, but may be made in a variety of different colors. It should not be confused with zircon, which is a zirconium silicate. Because of its low cost, durability, and close visual likeness to diamond, synthetic cubic zirconia has remained the most gemologically and economically important competitor for diamonds since 1976."

To tell the truth, I knew about Cubic Zirconia, but haven't tried those "diamondy" beauties until I received Cubic Zirconia Beads. They have a beautiful choice of CZs of any kind: beads, pendants, teardrops and so on. I decided to use faceted teardrops in my design.

According my idea, the necklace should have been pretty light and elegant, to wear for any occasion, and I added Amethyst, Garnet, Peridot, Olivine and Yellow CZ Faceted Teardrop Pendants to the main chain made using amethyst faceted round beads, seed beads and peridot chips. I wish I have wider CZ pendants color range, but for now it's fine. Ahhhha... Next time I'll try to combine those teardrops with Russian leaves...

The first picture displays my finished necklace, which I haven't named yet, and the second one - its close-up. What about name? Any idea?

Disclosure. Being a reviewer of Artbeads.com products and a participant of its blogging program I received all CZ Faceted Teardrops free of charge. Go green with Mzuribeads!

Got tired of traditional glass beads? If you're looking for new and unusual materials, you can find them on Mzuribeads.com. Mzuribeads is one of the many inspirational projects moving away from charitable aid, and onto the concept of business enterprise for sustainable income and development.

Mzuribeads paper beaders live in the village of Ndejje, Uganda, where they roll paper beads from strips of recycled magazines and posters. Prior to the founding of Mzuribeads, four of the women had been trained and were working to sell products through a defunct organization. These four women left then this organization with knowledge of the paper bead, but little idea of how this skill could support their lives.

Mzuribeads aim to generate a sustainable income by endeavoring to offer our customers ethical beads and the most fashionable and latest fashion accessory trends. This involves a large focus on quality control, design, and seasonable colors.

Mzuribeads makes beads not only from recycled paper, but also from cow horn, barkcloth, banana leaves, recycled glass; so you can GO GREEN with Mzuribeads!

Designing my Ethnic Fest Necklace, I used a memory wire blank necklace wrapped up with fabric resembling autumn leaves. Different Mzuribeads and seed beads, free-form as technique, and I'm done! It doesn't seem to be difficult, give it a try, and I wish you good luck!

How To Make Use of Flower Accent on Jewelry

Flowers are beautiful, aren’t they? For us girls, it makes us more feminine and to me it symbolizes sweetness. I used to have a small garden of flowers in pots. I have roses and Malaysian mumps, but because of the tropical weather here in the Philippines I wasn’t successful growing them.

Courtesy of featurepictures.com

Flowers are also often used as embellishments for clothing or in prints, especially as design for stationeries. It also adds beauty when you have a vase with flowers in your living room and dining table. I don’t know what flowers have but it adds something, that’s quite unexplainable. Don’t you agree?

So, today I’m going to show you jewelry designs that use flowers and I think it’s becoming a trend in jewelry making nowadays. These are 3 different ideas on how to add a flower to your jewelry pieces.

Pearl Flower Necklace

I love this design because it looks very refined, I think, very delicately looking because of the chiffon flower texture. The pearls also add elegance. This piece can be worn even in formal occasions.

Amy Cornwell is the designer of Pearl Flower Necklace. Amy handcrafts all her designs in her studio using sterling silver, gold-filled, gemstones, freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals, which are all fine materials.

Amy loves all things creative and I bet her wonderful marriage adds to her creativity.

If you want to make a Pearl Flower Necklace, here’s a free tutorial from Amy herself.

The next piece is a Fabric Rosette Bib Necklace from My Lips Will Glorify You blog site.

Heather, a wife and a mother has made this necklace making use of fabric roses as the main design of the necklace. What’s interesting about this is everything is made from fabric, except for the pearls embellished on the rosettes to add accents. And to put all the pieces together all you need is a mod podge.

To learn more about how to make the Fabric Rosette Bib Necklace, visit My Lips Will Glorify You for the free tutorial.

And finally, this is a piece made by 4 beautiful and sweet sisters, the Chocolate Flower Necklace.

Instead of using fabric and pearls, Selina, Sophie, Olivia and Elsie made use of leather to create the flowers. The shiny effect of the leather added a different texture and no need to put additional accents on. I think it has that funky and dainty look at the same time. Like what Filipinos say, “simple pero rock,” and meaning; simple, but it rocks!

Go girls!!!

I bet you want to try and make one for yourself right now! So, here’s the free tutorial from,The Sister 4 say… more is more.

Here's one more free tutorial for a Bib Necklace using roses for accents.

Beach Bridal and Bridesmaid Jewelry

Destination weddings have become very popular for brides in the past few years. It’s a vacation and a dream all in one. Families come to share the momentous day with the bride and groom and family. Spirits are up and these beach weddings are both beautiful and perfect settings to have your nuptials.

Brides that decide to have beach weddings or sea side inspired celebrations usually incorporate both a beach color pallet and sometimes even beach themes. Some of the popular beach color combinations are teal blues mixed with navy blues, sea blues and turquoises. Sometimes these colors are paired with sandy browns, golden oranges and browns. Often times coral colors and bright peaches, reds and yellows are mixed in. These fun colors are perfect for beach weddings and translate well for gowns and jewelry that can be worn again.

Brides will often times select jewelry accessories for themselves to wear on their wedding day in the ivory, cream, and white tones mixed with clear crystals, colorful rainbow crystals and sometimes even in the color pallets they’ve chosen for their bridesmaids to wear. All of these options are of course perfect because a bride can wear what ever she deems beautiful on her special day.

Often times, a bride will select beach themed bridesmaid jewelry for her bridesmaids. These trendy pieces translate well for beach and seaside weddings, but can often times be worn again and again for all occasion wear. Beach inspired jewelry is perfect for honeymoons and vacations throughout the years. When selecting accessory pieces like beach themed jewelry such as a starfish necklace or seashell earrings, these pieces look fantastic on the wedding day, but also look great with a sun dress on a hot day.

When selecting the beach themed wedding jewelry for your special day, find shops and online retailers that allow you to customize the styles, colors and sizes of the jewelry you pick. Finding, for example, the crystal starfish pendant necklace that matches your wedding colors and gowns is essential to tying your look together. Sandy browns and blues are common choices, but burgundy, bright red, coral, peach, aquamarine and purple are also popular choices.

Finding the right accessories for your wedding day for both the bride and her bridesmaids is a fun and exciting task. Customizing the right wedding jewelry to go with those gorgeous gowns is the perfect way to pull your look together. Giving beach bridesmaid jewelry to your maids is a nice gift idea because it can be worn again for multiple occasions.

Bridesmaid Jewelry Selections

There are so many details a bride must cross off of her “to do” list while planning her wedding. Some of these decisions are fun ones and others are just stressful tasks. None the less, the selection of your bridesmaids jewelry can be a stress free and fun one if you use some of these helpful hints along the way of the decision making process.

Not all of your bridesmaids are alike. They all have different personalities and that’s why you call them friends. Because of this detail, not all of their bridesmaid jewelry needs to be identical either. This is of course, a personal choice, but a unique idea of a personalized gift that your girls will appreciate. If you have brides that love drama, then a cascading chandelier earring might suit them perfectly. However, a more shy or understated bridesmaid may prefer a simple drop style earring.

If you prefer that all of your bridesmaids have a common look, there are a wealth of great options available online and in stores. Looking for a piece or pieces that are both suitable for your wedding style and colors, but that can be worn again after the wedding make for great gift giving ideas. There are a lot of trends out there this year that brides are leaning towards where bridesmaids look fantastic on their wedding day, but get to wear their jewelry again after the big moment has passed. One of these trends is teardrop or briolette jewelry. These sparkling little beauties work well for weddings, but look fantastic with a blouse and a pair of jeans as well.

Whether you pick identical pieces for your maids or select a different set for each girl’s style and personality, your bridesmaids will thank you for the thought. Jewelry is a great gift to give of thanks and a great way to be remembered as they cherish the pieces you’ve taken the time to select for them.

Ivory & Cream Bridesmaid Jewelry

This year there seems to be a new color trend popping up for bridesmaids. Typically, brides lean towards choosing colorful jewelry that matches their bridesmaids gowns and wedding colors. Lately the trends seems to be heading towards the selection of ivory and cream colored bridesmaid jewelry or white bridesmaid jewelry.

The light tones of ivory and cream as well as white gives a nice "pop" color for accessorizing with any color pallet. Ivory and white jewelry goes with every color and can be worn for multiple occasions. This makes a gift of this type of bridesmaid jewelry a gift that keeps on giving. Bridesmaids are usually given their jewelry by the bride the day before the wedding as their "thank you" gift for being a part of their special day. Giving bridesmaid jewelry in neutral tones like cream and white allows the bride to match to any color pallet as well as making a beautiful jewelry piece statement.

The general trend of the white and ivory bridesmaid jewelry seems to follow pearls. Pearls are a very traditional and classic look for brides but bridesmaids as well. Whether it's a chunky combination of multiple strands of pearls, illusion pearl jewelry or just a simple single strand pearl necklace and bracelet, ivory and white colored pearls make a perfect fit.

Because there are so many different styles of bridesmaids jewelry, it's great to shop for your white and cream bridesmaid jewelry online, finding a designer or company that offers these color selections. Finding a store that also customizes things like the size, clasp and earring styles and other personal customizations that make planning a wedding easy and stress free.

If you are considering white, cream or ivory bridesmaid jewelry for your bridesmaids looking for any design that fits your style is the perfect gift giving idea. White and ivory pearl colors are perfect for any wedding, any season and coordinate with any color pallet. The rewearable factor is also huge for your jewelry gift because they can accessorize it with anything.

Bridal Jewelry to Match Your Wedding Gown

Don't miss a post! Subscribe to Handmade Jewelry Club by Email FREE

The final accessories that match perfectly with your wedding gown are the bridal necklace, earrings, bracelet and hair accessories. Picking the right combination that works well with your bridal gown is the key to finishing off your bridal look.

Whether you are having a huge fancy wedding or a small gathering, finding the right final touches will add that extra sparkle and sophistication to look pulled together and complete.

A great place to start determining what bridal jewelry you will wear is to look at the fabric of your bridal gown. Are you wearing a traditional white gown, ivory and cream or another unique color? Does your gown have a colorful sash or embroidery details that those colors can be included into your bridal jewelry? These are the things to begin considering on your hunt for the right jewelry. Once you’ve determined your colors, you are set for the next step.

Look at your gown for embellishments. Are there rhinestones, pearls, crystals or bows on your gown? These are all details that can be of good use and guidance while selecting your bridal jewelry. If your gown has rhinestones on it, you may want to consider wearing bridal jewelry that also has rhinestones. The same goes for pearls, crystals, bows, ruffles and more.

After you’ve determined your colors and your materials to be included into your wedding jewelry, the next step is picking out which pieces you will want to include in your look. Some brides like to wear bracelets, necklaces, earrings and hair accessories all together. While other brides may only want a pair of earrings and a necklace. This is totally a personal style issue and it’s good narrow down what you like and what will work with your bridal gown.

Once you’ve determined the actual pieces you want the shopping can begin. If you’re looking for earrings, pick something that both compliments your bridal gown as well as your own personal style. If you like a more dramatic flair, chandelier bridal earrings may be just your right fit. If you are more understated and want a simpler look, standard drop earrings might get the job done.

When it comes to selecting your necklace style, you really must consider the neckline of your bridal gown. If you have a halter top, almost any style necklace will work, but if your gown wraps around your neck, a necklace might not be the right accessory for you. Whether you want your necklace to drape over your bridal gown, or just kiss the top of the neckline, find a fit that is perfect. A custom bridal jewelry designer can accomplish this task for you and it’s your wedding, so don’t settle for something that’s not perfect for you.

If you have no idea what styles you really want to wear or would look good with your bridal gown, consider all of your options. Take a friend with you to try on your gown and then whether you shop in stores or online, she can help you pick out a style that will match your gown perfectly while still reflecting your style.

We all know that once the wedding is over, the dress and shoes go away to be preserved. The wedding jewelry doesn’t have to. Of course you won’t be wearing that tiara again anytime soon, but the earrings, necklace and bracelet that you pick out can be worn for other special and formal occasions.

5 Tips for Selecting Your Bridesmaids Jewelry

Finding bridesmaid jewelry that suits every girl’s taste might be a hard task for some brides. Just like their bridesmaid gown selection, the selection of their bridesmaid jewelry could turn into a long and drawn out process that most brides stress over. Use the following tips to help you determine what bridesmaid jewelry is perfect for your bridal party.

Choose Your Color Pallet
A great place to start is finding what colors you will be incorporating into your bridesmaid’s jewelry. Of course by now, you’ve already made your wedding color choices and so let those decisions guide you through your bridesmaid jewelry color selections as well. Sometimes you may need to incorporate more than one color, based on availability and the ability to make a nice color match. Once you’ve decided on a color choice, stick with that throughout the entire bridesmaid jewelry selection.

All Different or Everyone Together
Of course everyone is different and with that, everyone’s style is different too. Not all bridesmaids are going to feel comfortable in long dangly chandelier style bridesmaid earrings. While other bridesmaids may want something more dramatic than a simple drop style earring. These are all things to consider while selecting your bridesmaid’s jewelry. First determine if everyone will wear the exact same pieces of jewelry or if you think it’s acceptable for everyone to wear a more personal piece that reflects their style and personality. After you’ve determined this factor, your hunt for the right pieces will go much smoother.

Consider the Style
There are a large variety of different jewelry styles out there. With necklaces you must consider the neckline of the gown your bridesmaids will be wearing. If it’s a strapless dress, then just about any necklace will match beautifully. However; if your girls are wearing a halter dress, a necklace all together might not be the right accessory option. You need to take into consideration the look you desire for your bridesmaids and carry that throughout your selections process.

Size Does Matter
Finding a jewelry designer and company that can suit your sizing needs is key to making the right fit for each girl. Just as all of their dress sizes are different, so is their bracelet and necklace length sizes. You need to find a designer or company that allows you to make custom size selections for both bracelets and necklaces. Another item to consider is that not all bridesmaids may have their ears pierced. If this is the case, and wearing earrings for all of the girls are a must, then finding a company that offers clip on options is also a great place to purchase your bridesmaid’s jewelry.

Gift Wrap Please
While you may plan on giving your jewelry as gifts, not all brides consider this their only “thank you” gift. Find a jewelry company that takes each bridesmaid’s jewelry pieces and wraps them up individually for each bridesmaid. This is a courtesy service that companies should and do offer. Find the store and company that will provide you with these above and beyond services.

While picking out the bridesmaid’s jewelry they will wear on your wedding day, keep in mind these key points and hints to help you find the perfect piece for each girl. Jewelry is something that is attached to memories of the day it is worn and who gave it to them. Your bridesmaids will cherish their bridesmaid’s jewelry if you take the time to select pieces that they both will love on your wedding day, but love to wear again after the big event is over.

Matching your Necklace with your Gown

You have dreamt of this day your entire life and it must be perfect. Your jewelry selection is like adding the icing on the cake. It is that final touch that finishes off your look. The selection of your necklace is largely based upon the style of gown you have chosen. There are some tips to consider when selecting your necklace for your special day.

The first item to consider when selecting your necklace is the embellishments on your beautiful bridal gown. Does your gown have pearls or crystals, rhinestones or sequins? Choose a necklace that incorporates those elements into it already. The second item to consider initially is what metal style are your wedding bands and engagement rings? If you are wearing gold or silver colored wedding bands, then wear a necklace that matches the metal in your bands.

The next step to selecting your necklace would be to look at your gowns neckline. If you have a plunging neckline, a long y drop or pendant style necklace looks stunning. This style necklace will flow in the same lines as your gown, accenting it beautifully. If you have an open back dress then a lariat is a perfect selection. A lariat is a necklace that ties in the back, and then necklace ties dangle elegantly. A strapless gown looks fabulous with a choker style necklace. Single and multiple strand necklaces look great too.

The final item to consider when selecting your bridal necklace is the colors. Is your gown white, ivory, champagne or does it have a colorful band or sash? Choose pearls and crystals that match the colors of your gown. If you do have an accent color band or embroidery, then incorporating that color within the necklace is a perfect way to have a splash of color.

What ever necklace you decide is the perfect one, remember, don’t just wear it for your wedding day. After the wedding it is so nice to keep those memories fresh by wearing your bridal jewelry to special events like your anniversary and other celebrations. Many brides pack everything away after their day, but your jewelry doesn’t have to just be a memory, it can be worn to keep those memories close.
