Months ago, I made a bucket list (with the diligent prodding of my friend, Rhonda). Learning how to tat was number 4 on the list. I spent all this past weekend and yesterday teaching myself how to tat. I tatted small sections of designs that appeared in the book I used to teach myself, then threw them all away. Why? I want to design my own pieces. I figure if I can learn the technique to where it looks good when I do it, I want to create all my own designs before my tat-virgin mind becomes too imprinted with published motifs and styles.
I finished my first bracelet today. It is actually more like a cuff, but it looks great. It is now being blocked and drying...tomorrow I will adorn it with my signature antique buttons.
I actually found learning to tat was not as hard as I thought. It is very relaxing, my fingers do not cramp like they will with crochet (dang hands) and the look of tat is so beautiful.
Lets see where this will take me!
