American Eagle Jeggings Review in sz 00

I purchased these AE jeggings a while back during a sale for $32, and was initially excited about how they fit and felt. After some thorough nitpicking, I decided to send them back and instead bought the Gap Legging Jeans in 00P, which I now love love love. Since these photos were already taken, I figured I'd share my thoughts anyways:
ae jeggings
Jeans: American Eagle jeggings in "Dark Indigo" sz 00
Jacket: Lucca Couture sz XS
Heels: Marc Fisher, thrifted

What I liked:
- the weight of the denim. These shouldn't even be called "jeggings" ... more so "very stretchy jeans"
- The dark wash of the denim
- The fit in the waist and hips (12.5" across the waist and 15.5" across the hips)

What I didn't like:
- The non-petite length (30" inseam)
- The AE signature embroidery on the back pockets
- The low rise (6.25"). Refer to pics below on how low the rise is. Butt crack galore when bending over!
IMGP7130_2IMGP7141
Verdict: Return. However, for someone who doesn't mind a low rise plus contrast stitching on the back pockets, these are not bad. The fit was very decent plus the material was sturdy and comfy...not at all flimsy like leggings.

More funky fit...note the itty bitty gap above by my crotch. Probably means the thighs are too tight. I know a reader (Bella) mentioned she was going to order the AE jeggings in sz 14 - if so I'd be interested in hearing how they fit. If anyone else ended up getting these, I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.

The Gap Legging Jeans I ended up ordering in 00P, "faded dark wash" provided a solution to all of the above complaints. I paid about $50 for them which is pretty expensive, but I think they are worth the premium over the pictured AE's. *However* the color of the Gap's are a little more medium blue than true dark. Keep an eye out for those later : )

AE Jeans - 20% off, BOGO, plus free ship AND returns

For those who have been on a denim search, here is a good deal for the weekend. I've never tried AE denim but they have over 7 cuts to choose from (jegging, flare, boot, straight, artist, boyfriend, and skinny) so there could be something for everyone . Here are the deals:

- 20% off your entire purchase and free ship with 57345217 (no minimum, includes sales and BOGO)
- Buy one get one 50% off denim
- Free return shipping label for their jeggings (highly reviewed by customers)
- Some jeans are already on sale, but they still qualify for BOGO and 20% off
- 3% cashback at ebates
Some picks:
1. AE Jegging in dark indigo ($31.60 after discounts) and midnight indigo wash ($11.98 after BOGO and discounts). Size 00 regular available (no 00 short, but I like my skinny denim and leggings to have some scrunch at the bottom). Don't be scared of jeggings ladies...just make sure they are more denim than leggings. Leggings with denim "print" are a huge don't in my opinion, but super stretchy and fitted denim is a do. I'm curious to see which bucket these fall under.

Free return ship on these, so I figured no harm in trying 'em out! I ordered both of the above washes.

2. AE Skinny Jeans in 00 Short or Regular. I like super dark indigo and deep dark indigo (only $9.98 after BOGO and discounts). In case you can't tell, I love skinny bottoms. Perfect to wear under blazers, chunkier sweaters, and coats for Fall. Petite Little Girl is modeling a pair here in 0 Short.

3. And just for fun, AE Classic Blazer in XXS, $40 after discounts.
Reviews say that this runs small and that the shoulders are narrow. I can see this navy blazer with the sleeves scrunched up paired over skinny or boyfriend fit jeans.

Reblog @AlterationsNeeded "Tiny Cashmere: American Eagle Outfitters"

Is there a proper way to cite and reply to a blog posting? My apologies to AlterationsNeeded if I am doing it incorrectly. I've already fallen behind the times and can hardly figure out Twitter, so I'll definitely be that technologically obsolete Mom in 10 years.

Anyways, this is a mix between a "retweet" and a response to a blog post that AlterationsNeeded made a month ago about her cashmere sweater finds. At that time, it was more than I'd like to pay for something by American Eagle, but thankfully she kept readers posted about deals and coupon codes. I ended up ordering a number of sweaters under the buy one, get one 50% off deal (still ongoing!), plus a 15% coupon code she shared. The cashmere cardigans ended up fitting great, and led to me finding more sweaters : )

1. The featured 100% cashmere sweaters. On sale for $59.50 plus BOGO 50% off.
With all discounts, it ended up being about $80 for two. As stated by AN, these ran tiny indeed! I should have listened and sized up to an XS. I ordered the same exact colors, Chalk and Summit Heather Gray.

The Chalk:
AE cardigan sz XXS, Forever 21 babydoll dress sz S, and Aldo heels
Click Read More for more sweaters.

The Summit Heather Gray:

AE cardigan sz XXS, H&M skinny jeans sz 11/12 kids, Nine West pumps

Closeup of where the logo is located (very far off to the left hip):
I loved the shade of this gray. It was a nice charcoal heathered gray, and matched lots of stuff in my wardrobe.

2. AE Classic Cardigan, $39.50, also currently Buy 1 Get 1 50% off.
I got this cardigan just to try on, and it ended up exceeding my expectations. It is a tightly knit cotton material, and felt cool and smooth against my skin. The composition is 59% cotton, 36% nylon, and 5% rabbit hair. I ordered the "Winter Oat Heather" and "Bell Navy," and probably would've loved the remaining two colors - New Sable Heather (looked like a camel color) and Winter Heather Gray - as well!
Winter Oat Heather is just a beige taupe color - pretty neutral and versatile.

Bell Navy:

I looove navy! I really need to learn how to accessorize and style pieces better. This little cropped cardi could be adorable if styled correctly.

Overall, I was very impressed by the fit of each of the above sweaters. As for material, you aptly get what you pay for. The details were on-point for both styles, and my eye was immediately drawn to the proportionately small, lovely pewter-colored buttons on these sweaters - a big plus in my book. I feel that so many cardigans are ruined by oddly colored, disproportionally sized, or flat-out ugly buttons! Thank you AlterationsNeeded for sharing your petite finds and coupon codes.

Now I have to debate which one(s) to keep, if any. My favorite is the navy, but these were all BOGO 50% off and I really don't need more than one. I'm going to cut down on shopping for myself starting now to focus more on gifts for my loved ones. That is, after all, my favorite part of December : )

Review: American Eagle Outfitters XXS Hooded Duffle Coat

I know what you're are thinking ... enough coats, already! But I actually don't have a coat "casual" enough which I could wear in blizzard conditions or spill hot chocolate on without freaking out over. I was previously impressed by the fit of XXS sweaters by American Eagle Outfitters, and wanted to give their moderately-priced coats a shot, too. I was specifically looking for a hooded coat, which left me to choose between nylon puffer coats and this:

AE Duffle Coat, $149.50 $119.95
Although this coat is not belted (a feature that is typically pretty key for petites), the silhouette looked slimming enough that I thought it might work. I also liked the nifty detachable hood feature, for days which I may not be feelin the hood.

Click Read More to see "modeling" pics and the verdict.

When I opened up the box, the poor coat was so crumpled it looked like someone just shoved it in. After hanging for a few days and steaming, it doesn't look much better...perhaps indicative of the material quality? Tag reads 55% wool, 30% polyester, and 15% rayon, making it comprable to H&M coats which are sold at roughly the same price point. As for warmth, this coat is fully lined in a plaid cotton blend material. I would say it ranks between medium to very warm.

H&M leggings in kids size 12/13yr. Aldo nude pumps.

Next, the fit. Oh - the disappointment! The AE XXS sweaters from this previous post were very tight on me, so I was almost certain that this coat would fit. Incorrect. First off, the super long sleeve syndrome was immediately noticeable. For sweaters, this can be temporarily resolved by folding the sleeves up. On a jacket, however, the only fix would be paying for alterations. The jacket is lined, plus there are little tab details on each sleeve which need to be moved up several inches, so I can see alterations easily being $50 or so.

The bagginess of the torso also did not do me any favors. An unbelted coat needs to be more slimming along the torso and at the waist to compensate for the lack of a waist-cincher. Unfortunately, I could grab a handful of material from each side of this jacket from the waist down to the hips. Just look at that above photo to the left...hard to believe I am wearing only a t-shirt and a small scarf underneath. My boyfriend gleefully commented on how puffy I looked.

Lastly, the details. The anchor buttons looked adorable online, but in person they were too pastic-y for my liking (buttons are very important to me!). I also thought the plaid print was just off. The print of the lining is not nearly as vibrant in person, and it made the coat seem cheaper than it was. I think a wider check pattern with less busy lines and a better choice of colors would have made quite a difference. Oh well!

Final verdict: Return. I am sure this coat will go on further sale as it's still available online in every size. And even if it goes on sale, at the $75 to $100ish price point I would personally rather stick to H&M coats in size 2. However, although this coat did not work for me, it may be more flattering on someone one size up with longer arms. In the future I may also give A&F coats a try, as I remember their size XS being quite fitted.
