The Goose flies to Disneyland

Over the next few days I'll be featuring some great posts by some awesome bloggers! The theme? Disney! Up first is Sarah from Confessions of a Sailor's Wife. Read her post then make sure you check out her blog!

Well, we didn't actually fly - we drove 8 hours to get there. One day we decided very last minute that we would accompany my sister and her boyfriend to Disneyland during Spring Break. Goose had just turned 2 and she was obsessed with Mickey Mouse Club house, so it was pretty much perfect.

We left after Sailor Man (who was just man at this point, not yet a sailor) got off work and drove all night from blistery Northern Nevada to sunny and bright Southern California. I know Goose didn't know what was going on, but she was definitely excited to be there.

We wondered in past the front gate and into our first stop. A store to buy milk

Who needs to pay for a ticket when you can swing from the banisters?! After we got the milk and we finally were all settled in and ready to start our day, we hit the lines. Unfortunately, it was not only Spring Break for us but for all of California as well; and so we were stuck with the lines. Goose was a champ and waited patiently. Poor little girl - had no idea what was going to happen on "Mr. Toads Wild Ride"..

Happy...
 hmm...
 What the what!?
 nightmare city..

Naturally, the only thing that clams a child is love and comfort from her parents right? Wrong. It would be Mickey Mouse shaped ice cream.

After that first experience on a "real" ride we chose to stay on the safer, brighter, rides from then on. Dumbo, the Carousel, Dumbo, Peter Pan, the Carousel... Going to Disneyland with your child brings back the excitement I had when I was a child. You see it in a whole new way, everything is new and real to them. Everything is amazing. There is something about Disneyland that when you walk through that front gate you leave your cares of the world behind. You transform into a carefree adult, and when you add a child into that mix it truly is the "Happiest Place on Earth".

We went again this last November with my parents (Sailor Man was deployed) and while the experience was different with an older child (3 1/2), one thing remains the same

Mickey Mouse ice cream is the only thing that matters.
