Let's Knot Our Way Through!

"The bracelets are said to be lucky - the person receiving one makes a wish as the bracelet is fastened on his or her wrist. Then the bracelet should be worn without removing until it falls off its own accord when the threads eventually worn out. At that moment, legend has it, the wish will come true.”

This is an excerpt from the book, Friendship Bracelets by Veronique Follet. I feel so lucky that I have this book. It was given to me by mother, year 1995, when we started to put up our family craft store business. I still can remember how happy I was when she gave it to me. I have made numerous friendship bracelets for clients, especially, couples and sweethearts. Some clients also wear it as anklets. There was even one client who requested me to make a belt for her little girl. That was challenging but really, really fun!

Found this in my box of crafts.

It’s not yet finished but still I wanted to show you guys.

The knotting techniques I used are similar to Leguana where the theme is diamond with short unknotted threads, but in this version, the unknotted threads are shorter because I did not make knots after each diamond.

Once you know how to make forward and backward knots, which are primarily used in making friendship bracelets, you’ll be able to create your own designs.

Here’s a friendship bracelet from House of Reverie inspired by Zolino design.

Here is something unique, Braided Chain Bracelet from Studs and Pearls

This is not actually a friendship bracelet, but what’s interesting is Kristen combined the use of thread braiding techniques with chains.

If you want to find out how Kristen did it visit her free tutorial at Studs and Pearls.

And since it's Valentine’s Day, let’s try a knotty valentine and have fun making heart shaped knots with this free video tutorial from TIAT.
