Dainty Earrings

I really took my time with these earrings. *grin* But I was pleased that I did, because the overall result turned out fabulous and really glamorous-looking. I made most of these with semi-precious natural gemstones. Have a peek and see if you like them as much as I do.

DAINTY HEART

It was my personal opinion that these beautiful, clear Swarovski crystal hearts were so pretty on their own that they didn't need any additional embellishments. I have a similar pair like these, but with the AB finish which casts a rainbow-coloured sheen when light falls on them. Although these are not of AB finish, they are equally resplendent as their AB counterparts. Crystal-clear, perfectly cut and absolutely flawless, these dainty crystal hearts, simply paired with sterling silver bails, evoke that sense of prettiness, of a dainty lady's heart. Hung from unusual round sterling silver earwires.

DAINTY HEART
Almost like glass- the key word being almost. These faceted hearts are truly magnificent pieces of art.

Hopefully, a better view of the unique, round sterling silver earwires. Look how the crystal hearts reflect light. They throw a myriad of rainbow colours on the wall, and sparkle to dazzle you with their brilliance.

BURGUNDY CROSS
OK, so I'm not exactly imaginative with names this time round- but what you see is what you get with this simple beauty. An opaque-like burgundy finish evokes old-world charm in these Swarovski crystal cross earrings. They look like a deep brown colour- but you need to catch the light with them to see their true colour. Burgundy. Hung from simple sterling silver bails and round sterling silver earwires. These burgundy crosses were imported from the US, and are almost impossible to find in Malaysia.

So they still look brown in this picture. Nevertheless, I think they paint a pretty picture anyway.

ICY TEARDROPS
I fell in love with these vintage, acrylic teardrop prisms when I saw them. They aren't as sparkly as Swarovski crystals, but they are still breathtaking in their own right. With a faceted front and a slightly flat back, I paired these prisms with gold-filled flat cable chain links and gold-filled earwires. When I made these, I imagined the Snow Queen shedding tears when Kay broke free from her ice-palace in the Laplands, back home to warmth and his beloved little Gerda.

PRIDE OF EGYPT
A friend of mine asked me to make matching turquoise earrings for a gorgeous turquoise set of necklace and bracelet that her mother received as a gift from a friend. I had bought these beautiful turquoise gemstone beads some time ago, but never used them yet. Their quality and colour were almost identical to my friend's mother's necklace & bracelet set.

SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES
These smoky quartz gemstones in an asymetrical octagonal shape really caught my eye, and I snapped them up quickly. A beautiful, smoky brown colour, the colour of the hills in twilight, I matched these with round Swarovski crystals in Golden Shadow, in line with its twilight theme, sterling Bali bead caps from Greece and Swarovski crystal bicones in Light Topaz. A touch of vintage is added with deliberately-oxidized, round sterling silver earwires (this picture shows off how beautiful they are) and oxidized sterling silver headpins.

Clarification: These earrings aren't crooked- it is the smoky quartz gemstones which are asymmetrical. How beautiful they are.

MARCH WINDS & APRIL SHOWERS
.....bring forth May flowers (so the nursery rhyme goes). This breathtakingly beautiful pair of earrings signify the onward coming of Spring. Before Spring makes its descend on our bountiful Earth, the pitter-patter and drip-drip-drop of April rain showers reign our lands in musical harmony. Lovely, sterling silver figaro chain links complete the dangle of round Swarovski crystals in Light Sapphire, Chinese crystals and stunning faceted opalite beads. These hang from sterling silver French earwires.

A ROLLING STONE GATHERS NO MOSS
I had these gorgeous moss-coloured vintage beads for a long time, not knowing what to do with them. Make them into a necklace? Earrings? I finally decided on earrings. My imagination took flight when I fashioned these, over hills and vales, in a lush green hillside with pretty moss-covered rocks and carpet-soft grass, daisies peering out from behind the grass. Sigh. What entrancing beauty. These vintage moss beads with cream swirls are just too pretty for words. I teamed them with sterling silver cones (frightfully expensive!) and Swarovski crystal bicones in Olive and clear crystal. To add a more elaborate touch, I hung them from my cherished round sterling silver earwires.

The moss beads are really visually attractive and I think they are a perfect combination with these limited edition sterling silver filigree cones.

THE CUBIST
These look like yummy cubed candies! A different take from your regular rounds and bicones, these cube earrings are avant-garde and unusual. They are clear Swarovski crystal cubes in 12mm, pretty big for cubes!- but oh so pretty that I couldn't resist them. I complemented the cubes with fancy sterling silver spacer beads, Swarovski crystal pearls in that gorgeous blue-green shade called Tahiti and Swarovski crystal bicones in Light Sapphire. Sterling silver French earwires complete this minimalist look.

LUMINOUS
These are lovely, vintage German faceted glass briolettes in a sweet, pastel pink colour. I wire-wrapped them with non-tarnish gold Artistic Wire in a deliberate, slightly haphazard manner to create a disposition of simplicity. A very simple pair of earrings luminous with great beauty broiling beneath the stones. Gold-filled earwires complete the look.

PERFUME
The beautiful colours of this combination bring to mind the sweet perfume of wonderful flowers and herbs: lavender, freesia and rose. An intoxicating blend of goodness, a pure unadulterated assault on the olfactory, an almost out-of-this-world, preternatural quality. Perfume combines pretty light green vintage German faceted glass briolettes, sterling silver cones and gorgeous Swarovski crystal bicones in Fuchsia and Violet. Wire-wrapped with non-tarnish silver Artistic Wire and hung on sterling silver earwires.

THE CIGARILLO BAR
Imagine walking into a specialty cigarillo bar. Like a scene from a 1920s movie, glamorous women with perfectly-coiffed hair and blood-red pouty lips in sequinned flapper dresses smoke vanilla and strawberry flavoured cigarillos. As clouds of smoke rise into the air, these ladies puff perfect circles of smoke-rings, laugh with their friends, take a sip of their whisky. The dim, moody lights of the bar takes on a muddy hue, clouded with smoke. And the colour of the smoke, I pictured them to be, the colour of these flawless round smoky quartz gemstones.

Gorgeous, slightly transparent smoky quartz gemstone beads are the focus of this wonderful piece. Complemented with fanciful sterling silver spacer beads and Swarovski crystal bicones in Topaz and Light Topaz, and wire-wrapped to sterling silver earwires.

NATURE'S MEDLEY
Another one of my favourite pairs- I drew inspiration for this pair from the seamless medley of colours in nature. Green for the trees and grass, brown for the earth and red for the colour of the sun at sunrise. A fantastic fusion of cylindrical red agate, round moss agate and hexagonal smoky quartz hanging from sterling silver figaro chain links create a furious disposition of our natural surroundings.
