Jewels from Real Seeds

Hi Handmade Jewelry Club readers! Every time I eat I like to have a dessert. I love to eat fruits, especially, mangos, papaya and avocado. I also like fresh fruit juices, like orange, apple and melon. I always make sure that there’s a fresh fruit juice available inside the fridge so that anytime I feel like drinking juice, I can have a glass in just seconds. I’ve also tried using the seeds by planting them again but I don’t have any success in doing so. Sometimes, I feel saddened because there are so many seeds from the fruit and it just gets wasted. Good thing I found these 2 great tutorials on how to make use of melon seeds and corn kernels. By the way, I love eating corn, too!

Faux Wooden Bead Necklace by Backstitch Baby

When I saw this tutorial it amazed me how Alison of Backstitch Baby came up with the idea of using corn kernels instead of beads in making this necklace. This mom of three boys is really talented and has used her spare time creatively.

Alison is the owner of Backstitch Baby blog and she’s interested in sewing, singing and running, and I bet, also jewelry making. She has made a free tutorial for her Faux Wooden Bead Necklace on her blog.

Now, I’ve heard of using melon seeds in jewelry making but have not seen one, even a picture, so I’m glad to have found Little Treasures and her Melon Necklace - Organic Jewelry.

Isn't it beautiful? Maya is so creative on this one that she even painted the melon seeds and added texture on the design.

Thanks for the free tutorial, Maya!

So, how about you? What’s your favorite fruit? Maybe you can make use of the seeds and create nice jewelries, too - organic and eco-friendly.

Have fun!
