KatjaDesign is so multi-talented...you will find a little of everything in here store. My favorite item has to be her fingerless gloves and a couple pieces of jewelry that are simply amazing! I have interviewed Katja and wish to share her insight with you!
What inspires you to create your fabulous pieces? (Meaning, what inspires the theme of your pieces)
"I have a highly creative mind with a lot of fantasy. There are 3 things that make me create: A. Need. If I need a necklace for a type of outfits and in a colour that works with the current fashion and in a certain length, well that’s just about it. And what I want, others usually want too.
B. Bead shopping. When I come home with a stash of new material and beads, I need to get started right away, because as I pick strands I am already designing in my head.
C. Visual ideas from magazines, shops, movies etc. I collect those images somewhere in my brain and then at an opportune time, it is all put together into new designs.
What do you do to overcome the creativity-stealing brick wall?
If I don't spend time in my studio, I don't create; and that builds up the "brick wall". If I have orders to fill in and have no inspiration, I make a conscious effort to spend time with my beads, doing smaller things and then usually creativity arrives.
What do you find most rewarding in creating your pieces?
When other people love it enough to have to own it! Sales are the biggest reward and a confirmation that what I do is right.
