Going Newd: Wireless Jewels

Do you remember as a kid when you used to collect stamps and stick them to a photo album? I used to envy kids who have a collection of good stuff. My other classmates even collected stationeries or colorful and fragrant paper and when they bring them to school, they trade some of their collections to other kids’ collections. Some kids I know collected stickers of different shapes and sizes and stick them on to sticker books and keep them as a collection. Sometimes kids play with their sticker collection; they stick it on to themselves. Just like jewelry, only without chains and whatnot. This is exactly what Alessandro Masini perceived in his jewelry collection: stick-on jewelry.

Alessandro Masini
is an Italian designer who established Newd in Florence in 2006. His jewels are adhesive and can be directly applied to the skin, which, according to their website, gives women the freedom to fully express her seductive power. His idea is “freedom without frontiers”, a new way for people to be creative on their own skin other than having tattoos or piercings.

Masini’s six new collections feature elegant gold and silver jewels for the women who love beauty and sophistication. His designs are mostly for women. The jewels come in different shapes and sizes, from basic shapes such as hearts to jewels with elaborate embellishments. Though some designs come in various themes, they never lose their femininity. These jewels truly accentuate a woman’s body. And since you can stick them anywhere, you can choose which body part you want to accentuate, enhance or sexy-fy, if such word exists.

This new innovation on fashion and jewelry gives Newd an edge in the industry. The unique technology gives no room for competitors since Mosini’s ingenuity is the first in this field.
